Herpes is a viral infection which is caused by the herpes simplex virus. This virus includes two strains such as the herpes simplex type 1 and herpes simplex type 2 viruses. The first strain of the virus causes oral herpes while the type 2 strain is responsible for the genital herpes outbreaks. Herpes photos reflect the most important and common symptoms associated with this condition which include herpes blisters.

The initial symptoms in this condition include a tingling sensation along with itching in the affected areas and this is followed with the eruption of blisters. Herpes photos indicate that the herpes blisters in the case of oral herpes are observed in the regions surrounding the mouth, lips and the face. In the case of genital herpes the blisters are observed in the genital areas like the penis, vagina and the anus.

Herpes outbreaks are followed by periods in which the virus remains within the body in a dormant condition. During the period of dormancy the virus rests within the nerve cells in the body. There is no complete cure for this condition and a patient has to take antiviral medication to control the symptoms. Herpes photos indicate that the blisters are small and red and may erupt in a cluster or a group.

Herpes photos reflect that the blisters are also filled with a clear or cloudy liquid and with time the blisters scab over and heal. This condition can be easily transmitted through sexual activity or direct skin contact with the infected areas. It is also possible that the disease is transmitted even when the virus seems to be in a dormant condition.

The symptoms associated with this condition develop around 3 to 7 days after direct contact with the infected person occurs. Herpes photos reflect that the blisters in this condition may be between 1 to 3 mm. The blisters may also be cropped together in a group. In some cases the patients may also experience vaginal or penile discharge.

In most cases of herpes condition the first outbreak is usually most painful and the first outbreak also lasts longer than the outbreaks that follow. Other signs that may accompany the blisters include muscle aches, fever and headaches as well. Swelling in the lymph glands may also be experienced in many cases.

Herpes can be treated by antiviral medication which includes such medicines as acyclovir, famciclovir and valacyclovir. Patients suffering from this condition should avoid itching or scratching the blisters. It is also advisable to keep the affected areas dry and clean and to wash hands after touching the affected areas.
